Hello! I’m Danielle. By day I am an Accountant for a medical device manufacturing company. By night I’m an amateur chef and baker with dreams of opening my own bakery. Actually I’m really close to opening my own bakery. I just need to pick out the color scheme! (And get funding, and find a property, and refine recipes, and build the business from the ground up….)
I am the mom to two of the most beautiful children I have ever seen and have been married to the love of my life for the better part of a decade. We own a small home just outside of Salt Lake where we live with our poodle-yorkie (Mayzie Day) and purple cichlid (Sid Fishus).
My favorite thing in the world is cooking delicious food to share with people which is, incidentally, the best way I have found to make friends. I like to bribe people to do my bidding by promising them baked goods in return. If I could be anywhere in the world (and no financial constraints) I would be on the beach in San Diego. My dream vacation is Scotland/Ireland/England and Wales.
One of my favorite pastimes is reading recipes. I love sitting down with a good cookbook and finding new ideas and techniques that I haven’t used before. I specifically love old cookbooks and finding some of the weirder dishes that used to be a part of people’s repertoire or dishes that have fallen out of fashion that should be brought back. Plus I love using recipes as a link to the past. I love seeing the original handwriting of my grandma or great grandma or the specific typewriter font of the recipes from my grandpa. And when I come across a recipe that says “From Joyce” it’s almost like my great aunt is in the kitchen with me.
